What Makes San Francisco Special to Everybody

With the new state same-sex weddings in effect, San Francisco could position itself as a Niagara Falls/Las Vegas wedding destination. A study estimates $684 million added to California's economy over the next three years:
During the three-year period, the researchers project that about half of the state's more than 100,000 same-sex couples will get married and another 68,000 out-of-state couples will travel to California to exchange vows. The nuptial rush is expected to create some 2,200 jobs. The most satisfying feeling living in one of America's most diverse cities is the nonchalant acceptance of all cultures... the differences all meld together across every category. The acknowledgment of differences is a given... in fact, it's easy to joke about the differences because they are universal and celebrated. Paradoxically, political correctness ("PC") isn't adhered to in this environment... it seems to be an issue in places where differences are potentially a source of friction. Highlight this California-style openness with that of my ancestral home of Japan where the differences are perceived in minutiae within a homogeneous population. I'd go nuts trying to stretch personal borders that such a population would unconsciously enforce on the masses.
Although San Francisco is a cultural fusion, it's still striking to see the cultures on display en masse, like in the movie line for Sex and the City (hint, it's 50/50 men and women coming from two different neighborhoods), or at any one of the city's ethnic festivals.
"San Francisco could position itself as a Niagara Falls/Las Vegas wedding destination."
Yes, it could...but with the way the Board and Mayor operate they'll screw it up and Vegas will ca$h in per usual.

I have lived in San Francisco for a couple of years now and what I love most about it is how accepted diversity is. The legality of same sex marriages in California only adds to San Fran's beauty.

Hi Pat,
I have an idea. Maybe we could refurbish "The Rock" and make it a combination resort, gambling mecca, and open marriage destination.
This type of multi use destination entertainment resort would be a boon to San Francisco politician's inability to stay within budget.
If you really want to monetize, you have Newsom declare the new Alcatraz resort has the only legal pot dispensary in SF county. Maybe we would see a budget surplus then?
