Yesterday Zillow, today Loopnet partners with newspapers
Get in line... it looks like the major listings websites are partnering with the newspaper publishers for syndication purposes. Next up after yesterday's Zillow publishing partnership announcement is Loopnet, which will distribute its showcase property listings to 100+ newspaper websites. From the Loopnet press release:
- With this new distribution deal, exposure for LoopNet’s Showcase Properties has dramatically increased, significantly enhancing the value of advertising a property on LoopNet through a Showcase Property Listing.
- Showcase Property Listings now receive triple the exposure of standard listings by Premium Members on LoopNet.com, as well as 10 times the exposure of Basic Listings.
Here are a few more commentaries on the Zillow / Newspaper partnership:
Zillow teams with Yahoo's Newspaper consortium... without Yahoo!
The
Local Onliner points out that Yahoo! Real Estate may have lost the
bake-off with the newspapers despite the fact Yahoo! has an existing
content distribution deal with the newspapers already. The newspapers
may be hedging their bets by choosing different Web 2.0 partners for
each vertical.

Interesting news on the heels of Zillow's recent announcement. I see a lot of resentment towards Zillow (and even Google Base to some extent) over at Active Rain and I really can't comprehend the rationale for it. If I were a realtor I would look at these sites as tools to help me get my listings in front of more potential clients not as adversaries.
