Foreclosure Heat Maps

Just recently, Transparent has been receiving traffic from google searches on "foreclosure heat maps" and its variations like "subprime heat map". I also checked and found the offerings limited:

  • RealtyTrac is a leading database for foreclosures and provides a chart of foreclosure by state (c/o Big Picture )
  • Here's a revealing local foreclosure heat map of StPaul, MN that should be charted for other cities.
  • And the winner is Neighboroo, which charts foreclosures on a relative scale sourcing from Homesmart. It also charts collateral risk as well.

The map causes me to think of the current foreclosure as the global warming of the mortgage sector? In other words, for more than a decade we (RE industry) have failed to properly manage the two related systems of mortgage and real estate home ownership, recklessly allowing a degeneration of their delicate eco systems. Now, having punctured the atmosphere, we will have to scramble to clean up our self-induced mess.

We worked with HomeSmart Inc. in making the heat maps. Below the information, we credited them with "Data by HomeSmart", but I suppose it's not clear.
