I happened upon Mike Simonsen's Altos blog announcing his interview on KTVU Channel 2 this evening and switched the old media tool on just in time to catch Mike's views on Bay Area real estate. The KTVU website doesn't have a link at the time of this posting, but they will soon.
The tenor of the broadcast - - - although the Bay Area real estate market still seems to be lagging vis-a-vis recent housing sales improvement on a national level, it's not all bad news here. And that's what Mike implies.
Mike's company Altos Research markets unique analytical products to Realtors and other real estate professional that chart real time property market trends down to the zipcode / neighborhood level based on current listing data. Here is how Maury Properties uses Altos' charts on their blog to market themselves as experts in San Francisco's condo rich South of Market neighborhood. Altos has launched in a number of markets within California, in Seattle and Chicago, and will be expanding to other markets next year.

Thanks for the mention Pat. My clients are really liking those charts and the Market Reports that Altos provides. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Mike on KTVU since I was out of town. Hopefully, I'll be able to see it at their site soon.
