Condo Contessa tells me about Rentslicer
Great new blog focusing on San Francisco's condo market, in particular the fast moving, hard to gauge SOMA market. Condo Contessa has already posted a variety of useful articles - some fine analysis on economy topics as well as intriguing details about San Francisco condos and their jigsaw puzzle-like inventory.
Through the Contessa, I discovered Rentslicer an easy-to-use mashup of SF rentals by neighborhood that I'm surprised I hadn't heard of before. Their best feature is real time screen scraping of Craig's List rental ads with their times of posting, thus allowing prospective renters to "pounce" on the ad as soon as it posts. Even better, alerts can be created to monitor desired rental opportunities. Second best is their trend data analysis on the CL database that, at its most simplest, shows a graph of rising rental rates over this year.
I thought the app was much better than Rentometer, another rental mashup which requires the user to enter the address before entering the application. I tried three addresses in SF, NYC and Sacramento and could not even get in. What's with that...
It's Fields of Dreams over at Condo Contessa - she's developed content I haven't seen before and it's worth the look... and what a cool name...
