Carnival of Real Estate - #6 in the Blogger Starter Series
A topical lesson for my newbie blogger clients - file this under Publicity.
Blog Carnivals are weekly events "hosted" in rotation by an industry blogger. Bloggers contribute their best post of the week to the host, who then publishes the "best of best" list. Carnivals draw a sizeable audience and can draw traffic to a new blog. Here's a list showing the variety of blog carnivals now running.
The Carnival of Real Estate has quickly become an institution in the real estate blogosphere since its start this summer. Greg at Bloodhound Blog hosts this week and he's made some good recommendations on how to extend the traffic life of the Carnival that I hope future hosts will follow.
Today, Greg kindly offered kudos for my first submission ever to the Carnival - our Blogger Starter series from last week. I spent two months refining my writing and watching what kind of posts attract attention before making the submission. I'll be a regular on the circuit...
As I have mentioning before, new bloggers.. Real estate blogging is still on the ground floor. The Carnival started just a few months ago and many of the most prominent real estate blogs like the Bloodhound Blog got started less than a year ago (at least that's as far as their archives go).
Here's a fascinating article from New York Magazine about how blogs that got started at the ground floor have achieved phenomenal success levels based on nothing more than linkage, the most obvious way to build traffic. The premise is simple - all ambitious newer blogs link up the pyramid of prominent, well-trafficked blogs. Adriana Huffington smartly blogrolled the top blogs of the day to jumpstart her blog and now it's at the top today. The pioneering blogs at the apex are entrenched because they will always be the recipient of links from their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. degree of separation blogs. It's just math... they are hard to knock off their perch... You can check Technorati to find out how many inbound links a blog has.
Get your blog started now... in short time, you may have a prominent blog property that will generate leads and good will for years to come...

I entered one carnival and because of it I met a lot of other bloggers, and got some great traffic and links. Would like to thank you for pointing out that re blogs are new and it does not take years to get one going. Your own blog is an excellent example.
